It’s true: 2018 was one of the biggest years for data breaches to date, with more than 6,500 data breaches reported throughout the year. This statistic includes both small and large data breaches. If you can call it good news, that number was a 3.2% decline from 2017’s reporting of 6,728 data breaches.

In this podcast, LBMC Information Security’s Bill Dean dives deeper into these recent data breach statistics and why it’s important to keep investing in the hard work involved with combating cyber-attacks to prevent data breaches in the days to come.

Listen, and discover these key takeaways:

  • An exploration of the 2018 data breach statistics

  • A closer look at the types of data breaches that occurred in 2018

  • A discussion about why companies are investing more into information security with both people and technology, yet 2017 and 2018 provided more data breaches than ever before

  • Reasons companies must be willing to do the hard work when it comes to cybersecurity
